movie poster credit font

in making the one sheet for 'an exercise in vigilance,' i found an excellent and free font for doing the credits on one sheets. it's steeltongs.

it allows you to do the fancy type setting of putting the credit next to the name, like this:

since credit names are all uppercase, you get the credits by using lowercase. so if you want "directed by," you just type a lowercase j. other credits can be accessed by various key combinations. it's a simple and effective way to get that great movie poster credit look.

i found this font via a discussion on posterwire.com, a good source of general information about movie posters. here's the full selection of type:

This IS good, but it's missing:

"Starring"
"Featuring"
"Produced and Directed by"

How'd that happen?

Thanks. I was just looking around online for an example to show our graphic designer. This just saved us a whole lot of formatting time trying to get our poster done by tomorrow morning.

Steel Tongs is good but not quite the same as most movie posters (especially noticeable in the R, J & K). There's another called "Movie Poster" that's also close, particularly the condensed version. But it doesn't have the pre-made stacked text like "DIRECTED BY," you have to do that yourself.

Movie Poster font here: http://www.dafont.com/sf-movie-poster.font

A font called "Bee" is the closest I've seen to most movie posters these days: http://new.myfonts.com/fonts/urw/bee/

To compare, type in sample text found on the poster for The Dark Knight, which is a common one: http://www.popcritics.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/04/the_dark_knight_movie_poster.jpg

Nearly identical.
