now is the time

xkcd does it again. inspired by this comic i decided to look my own death up. according to this table, i'll die in 36 years when im 77. somewhere around 2044. so at least i'll outlive the cast of star wars.

this isn't news to me. i've long been aware that the average american male lifespan is about 75-77 years and that there's a good probability that i've already been alive longer than i will remain so, but it does sharpen the focus a bit. it reinforces the idea that if i want to do anything, now is the time. because we're only running out of it.

This links in with my recent post - how to get the most out of your time. But I wish I had seen this first - as it adds a bit of urgency to the situation!

oh dear. but people ARE now living much longer these days due to better medical care... I just read about a 105 years old black woman in the news yesterday. she was the daughter of a slave and she's going to cast her ballot for Obama. touching.
