"my name is shyam and this is a story about friendship."
ftx - it stands for french toast and hugs (technically i believe the oh's in oxoxox represent the hugs, but who's that picky?).
my friend shyam yadav
started it. it's simply a fun thing he does. he works in visual effects as a plate coordinator - meaning on the set, not in post. so he travels around the world to work on films and when he does, he likes to show up somewhere and give out free french toast and hugs. it's an amazingly simple and wonderful thing that i've been privileged to be a part of three times, the latest in downtown los angeles where we fed around 400 people one saturday morning.shyam was interviewed today on kcrw, a well-known local college station, during the 'good food' show. you can listen to the interview here. it's only a few minutes long and in the kcrw player you can easily jump to his section via tabs on the timeline.
you can read more about shyam and his unusual obsession on the ftx website.
“of course we’re friends kid, in fact we’re best friends. you’re brown like me and every buddy knows brown is the color of love."
